Racers Drop Match at UT Martin

The Murray State women's tennis team fell at UT Martin on Friday as the Skyhawks topped the Racers 6-1.Â
In doubles play, partners Alina Schibol and Jeanne Masson came out strong as they won their match at the No. 3 doubles 6-3. Erin Patton and Haily Morgan were the next to finish but were defeated 6-4 at the No. 1 doubles. Partners Megan Blue and Amina Hadzic battled at the No. 2 doubles but were defeated in 7-5, giving the Skyhawks the early 1-0 lead.
Singles play did not fair well for MSU. Morgan was the lone Racer to win a match. After losing her first set 0-6, she rallied back and defeated her opponent 6-3, 10-8 at the No. 3 singles. Patton and Schibol took their opponents to three sets but could not get the win. Patton found herself down early at the No. 4 singles court as she lost her first set 6-2. She rallied in the second set to win 6-1 but fell in the third set 10-3. Schibol jumped out to an early lead as she won her first set at the No. 6 singles 7-5. However, her opponent got the better of her as Schibol went on to lose 6-4,11-9 in the following sets.Â
Murray State (7-8, 2-3) looks to bounce back as they take on Southeast Missouri on the Redhawks home court on Saturday. Match time form Cape Girardeau, Missouri is set for 2 p.m.
