Racers Clinch Playoff Berth with Win Over JSU

The Murray State women's tennis team clinched a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Friday as they defeated Jacksonville State 6-1 on the road.
MSU established a lead early on as they won the doubles point. Partners Erin Patton and Haily Morgan won their fifth straight doubles match as they defeated their opponents 6-2 at the No. 1 doubles court. Megan Blue and Amina Hadzic also won 6-2 at the No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Racers.
In the singles matches, Morgan won her sixth straight match as she defeated her opponent at the No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-2. Patton won her fifth straight match at the No. 4 singles. She won her first set 6-4 but fell in her next match 6-2. Patton rallied back to win her third set 6-0. Blue won her third straight match at the No. 1 singles. She won 6-4, 6-3. Hadzic won her match at the No. 2 singles. After winning her first match 7-6, she fell in her next set 2-6. She rallied back to defeat her opponent 10-6 in the third set. Jeanne Masson was the last Racer to win her singles match. At the No. 6 singles court, Masson won 6-4, 6-3 to seal the 6-1 Racer victory.
Murray State (11-9, 6-4) clinched a spot in the OVC Tournament with the victory. The Racers will be either the fifth or sixth seed in the tournament and will play April 22 in Nashville. The Racers opponent has not been determined due to the final OVC matches being played on Saturday.Â
