Lawrence and Brimlett Place First at Hillsdale

The Murray State women's track team has taken Hillsdale by storm as Tamdra Lawrence and Jabreuna Brimlett placed first in their events at the 50th Annual Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays on Friday.Â
Lawrence placed first in the both of her events. In the 100 meters, she ran 12.03 and in the 200 meters, she finished with a time of 24.58. Victoria Yocum placed third in the 100 meters as she finished with a time of 12.39.
Brimlett set a new personal record and a new meet record in the 100 meter hurdles as she finished in first with a time of 13.74. Her time ranks third in the OVC and second in program history. Jolyta Henderson also ran a personal best in the event as she ran 14.70. Her time ranks tenth all-time at MSU.
Anna Curlin and Tia Weston ran personal bests in the 400 meters Curlin finished fourth as she ran 56.85, which is ninth all-time at Murray State. Weston finished with a time of 58.60.
Racers set personal records in the 800 meters. Rebekah Priddy finished with a time of 2:24. Rebecca Morris also set a personal record in the event as she finished with a time of 2:51.
Jocelyn Payne set a new personal record in the 400 meter hurdles. The freshman ran 1:03 to finish second in the event. Emma Gilmore set a personal record in the 1,500 meters as she ran 4:37.
Christina Meinhardt placed seventh in the shot put. The freshman threw 12.84 meters (42'1.5").
On Thursday, Emily Flaherty set a personal record in the 5,000 meters as she finished with a time of 18:31. Meagan Smith also competed in the event running a season best 18:18.
Ida Mutai competed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The freshman ran a personal best 11:59 as she finished fourth in the event. Her time ranks eighth all-time at MSU.
As a team, Murray State leads the open division with 71.5 points. The Racers are back in action Saturday as they wrap-up in Hillsdale, Michigan. The first events of the day are set to start at 10 a.m. with the women's pole vault.
