Murray State sophomore Moa Folke brought home a second place finish at the Rebel Intercollegiate at the Ole Miss Golf Club in Oxford, Mississippi.
Folke's final round 75 wasn't enough to hold off a hard charge from Troy's Fatima Cano who carded a 6-under-par 66 for the medalist title. Folke carded scores of 71-68-75=214, while Cano had rounds of 73-70-66=209.
The Racers played well on a tough course and against a solid field with scores of 303-300-308=911 to finish in eighth place ahead of Tulsa (913), Southern Miss (915) and Western Kentucky (918) and just behind and East Tennessee (902), Memphis (904) and Western Carolina (909).
After Folke's runner-up performance, the Racers had a 39th place finish from Sydney Trimble with scores of 78-78-75=231 and a 61st place finish from Abbi Stamper with scores of 81-77-77=235. Jacklyn Van Meter placed 66th with scores of 73-81-82=236, while Sophie Hillier had scores of 83-77-81=241 for a spot in 80th place.
Anna Moore fired a career-low 73 for the Racers in the final round to finish 45th with scores of 83-76-73-232.
Winner Troy had a total 871 and had a 17-shot win over host Ole Miss at 888. Harvard and Fresno State shared third place at 895.
There were 90 players in the field that took on a challenging Ole Miss GC layout that played to a par of 72 and 6,323 yards.
The Racers are home Friday and Saturday to host the Jan Weaver Invitational at their home, Miller Memorial Golf course. The event calls for 36 holes of play Friday and 18 on Saturday. The event is MSU's final before heading to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship (April 18-20) at Hampton Cove GC in Owens Crossing, Alabama.
