Racers Fall in Close Match at Austin Peay

The Murray State women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker in Clarksville, Tenn. on Tuesday as the Racers fell 4-3 to Austin Peay.
In the doubles matches, Haily Morgan and Erin Patton won their match at the No. 1 doubles. The duo defeated their APSU opponent 6-4. At the No. 2 doubles, Megan Blue and Amina Hadzic fell in their match 6-3. The doubles point would be decided at the No. 3 Â by Alina Schibol and Jeanne Masson. The pair battled against their Austin Peay opponents as they took the match into a tiebreaker. Ultimately, the Governors were victorious as Schibol and Masson fell 7-6 (10-8).
The singles matches were just as close as the doubles matches. Morgan and Patton also pulled out wins in their singles matches. Morgan won her third straight singles match as she won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles. Patton won her first set 6-4. She fell in her next set 6-7 (7-10) but rallied back to win the third set 6-4. Schibol also won her match at the No. 5 singles 6-2. 6-2. Blue fell in her match at the No 1 singles 6-1, 6-0. Hadzic also fell in her match at the No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0.
The decision would come down to the No. 6 singles court. Masson fell in her first match 7-5 but rallied to win her second set 6-2. She ultimately fell 7-5 in the third set giving Austin Peay the 4-3 victory.
Murray State (8-9, 3-4) returns home for their last home matches of the season. The Racers take on Belmont on Friday and Tennessee State on Saturday. Both matches are set to begin at 10 a.m.
