Korir Wins OVC Weekly Honors

Vallery Korir was named adidas® OVC Co-Female Track Athlete of the Week the league announced Wednesday. This is the first time she has won the honor and the first weekly honors for the Racers this outdoor season.
At Washington University in St. Louis, Korir broke the school record in the 10,000 meters that stood for 29 years. She posted a time of 35:09 in the event breaking the old record that was set by Teresa Colby (36:30) in 1985. Korir also broke the Francis Field record of 35:44 set by Southeast Missouri State's Alison Steinbrunner in 2012. Her time is first in the OVC and ranks 31st in the NCAA East Region.
The Racers are back in action Friday as they travel to Bowling Green, Ky for the WKU Relays at Western Kentucky.
