The Racers hit the road for the first time in conference play as they travel to face Morehead State Saturday at Wetherby Gym. MSU is looking for its first win in Morehead since 2008. The Racers have lost their last six trips out east.
Earlier This Week
Murray State recorded its third consecutive sweep Tuesday night at Racer Arena as the Racers defeated Austin Peay 25-19, 25-16 and 25-14. MSU hit .321 as a team while holding the Govs to just a .037 clip. Audrey Lewis led the team with 13 kills while hitting .308 and Scottie Ingram added 11 and hit .385. Olivia Chatman chipped in with seven kills and hit a match-high .545. Setter Hannah Stultz recorded 37 assists and 10 digs in the sweep.
Offensive Surge
The Racers have re-ignited their offense since the beginning of conference play as MSU is hitting .296 as a team in the three matches. Hannah Stultz has averaged a blistering 13.6 assists per set in the three sweeps while Scottie Ingram is averaging 4.67 kills per set and Kristen Besselsen is at 3.44 per. Olivia Chatman leads the team with a .444 hitting percentage so far in OVC play and is third on the team with 21 kills.
Defensively, the Racers are also getting the job done as they've held opponents to just a .112 attack percentage and are also averaging 18.4 digs per set.
Scouting Morehead State
The Eagles are led by 2015 OVC Freshman of the Year Merideth Jewell who has 214 kills and is averaging 3.77 points per set. Sydney Schuler is second on the team with 183 kills while Jessie Wachtman leads the team with a .222 attack percentage. Morehead employs a two-setter system and is led by Jordan Jones' 294 assists while Bailey Nichol is averaging a teamhigh 7.47 assists per set. In the back row, Danielle McCarson leads the Eagles averaging 3.97 digs per set. As a team, Morehead is hitting .155 and is averaging 2.21 blocks per set, which ranks third in the OVC.
