10/16/2017 3:06:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Last Time On Racer Soccer…
Miyah Watford's fourth goal of the year was all the Murray State Racers needed, as they defeated Belmont 1-0 and moved into first place in the Ohio Valley Conference At E.S Rose Park in Nashville, Tenn.
First Time For Everything
In the most recent coaches polls, the Racers have recived votes for the first time in program history.
Where We Rank
The Racers continue to climb the rankings, now ranked 27th in the most recent RPI polls.
Things look Better From The Top
With the win at Belmont and Tennessee Tech beating Eastern Kentucky, the Racers move into first place with a two point advantage over Tech.
Did You Know......
The Racers have trailed just once this year, and that came in their 1-0 loss to Saint Louis on September 17.
How Things Stand
With the current standings, the Racers have a chance to secure home field advantage for the OVC Tournament with a win against EIU. Murray State is two conference points ahead of Tennessee Tech, who's in second place in the OVC.
Records Are Meant To Be Broken
Setting new records for game winning goals, career goals, and career point, you'd think there isn't too left for Harriet Withers to break. She is now just one goal away from tying the single season record of 13 goals set in 2004.
You Can't Go Through Walls
Since letting up three goals to Little Rock on September 8, the Racers have allowed just three goals and recorded six of their seven shutouts in this span.
Déjà vu
This isn't the first time Steigerwald has had a chance to post back-to-back-to-back shutouts. She did that in a three-game span against
Tennessee Tech, Jacksonville State and Southeast Missouri.
Better Late Than Never
16 of the 24 goals scored by the Racers this year have come in the second half or in overtime.
Three's A Crowd
Three players, Withers, Watford and Kubin are now into double-digits in terms of points on the Racers.
We Run This Conference
You have to look back to the tail end of 2014, the first season under coach Groves, that the Racers lost a regular season OVC Game. That was on October 26 against the Bruins of Belmont, where the Racers fell 2-0. Since then, Murray State has gone on a 29-game and counting conference unbeaten streak.
Know Thy Foe
Eastern Illinois sits at the bottom of the table with just one point in the OVC, where they tied TTU on October 6, 0-0. Four players are tied with three goals to lead the Panthers. As a team they have 18 goals and 15 assists while letting up 29 goals this year.
Sara Teteak has been in net for 13 games this year, letting in 20 goals, making 58 saves and has a GAA of 1.54. The Panthers have only scored thee goals in OVC play.
Last Time They Met
The Racers defeated Eastern Illinois 3-0 on the road last year.
All Time Record
The Racers are 7-8-4 overall against the Panthers, with Murray State winning the last three meetings. The Racers are 4-3-2 at home.
