The Murray State Racers take to the road for the first time in the 2017-18 season when they tangle with the Wright State Raiders on their home court Saturday at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. The fifth all-time meeting between these schools from the Ohio Valley Conference and the Horizon League tips at 6 p.m. Central Time. The Racers first road game of the season is WSU's home opener.

The Racers are 1-1 following a home 118-61 win over Brescia (Nov. 10) and a home 72-67 defeat against Middle Tennessee on Monday. In the MTSU game, the Racers had their largest lead of the game in the first half of six points and last led with 8:11 remaining in the second half. Late in the game, MSU had a last possession to possibly tie the game, but a 3-point try rimmed off with 2.2 seconds left.
Only two games into his freshman season, Racer newcomer Ja Morant is already making himself known. He had a team-high 16 points and five assists in the Middle Tennessee Game and is running the MSU offense with 16 assists in two games. He's also 9-of-9 from the free throw line and scoring 11.5 points per game.
The Racers are coming off a preseason that saw them picked third in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll as the league heads to a new venue in March when the OVC Tournament is contested at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind. In the preseason, Racer seniors Terrell Miller, Jr., and Jonathan Stark were named to the All-OVC Preseason Team and Stark became the 10th Racer in the last 24 seasons to be named OVC Preseason Player of the Year. Stark led the OVC in scoring a year ago and has also been named to the Lou Henson Award watch list which goes to the top mid-major player as named by CollegeInsider.com.
Picked fifth in the Horizon League poll, WSU is 0-2 after a road loss in Chicago (Nov. 10) against Loyola 84-80 and then another road defeat at Miami (OH) on Tuesday 73-67 in overtime.
This is MSU's 93rd season of collegiate basketball, 70th in the OVC and 20th in the CFSB Center. In this time, the Racers have produced 18 OVC Player of the Year Awards with Cameron Payne being the last in 2015. MSU has a league-best 24 regular season titles and 15 OVC Tournament titles. They've had 76 winning seasons including 29 of the last 30.Â
The Racers get back home for their next contest on Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 25) when they host the SIU Salukis at the CFSB Center.
