
ETSU Runs Past Racers

East Tennessee State got out and ran Wednesday night at the CFSB Center as the Murray State women fell to the Buccaneers 96-68. ETSU outscored the Racers 26-4 in fast break points in the contest and had a 27-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
The MSU (2-5) offense was held in check most of the night as the Racers shot just 33.8 percent from the floor and went 11-of-34 from 3-point range. Meanwhile, the Bucs (5-4) shot nearly 46 percent from the floor overall and hit seven 3-pointers. ETSU also made eight more free throws than the Racers.
The first half of the game was within single digits as ETSU led 26-17 after the first quarter and 47-36 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Bucs led by as many as 20 and outscored the Racers 24-11 in the fourth quarter leading to the wider margin.
Abria Gulledge hit five 3-pointers in the loss and led the Racers with 19 points. Ke'Shunan James recorded her third double-double of the season as she had 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. James also had a game-high six assists in the loss. Brianna Crane had a career-night on the evening as she scored 13 points and pulled down 10 boards, both of which were career-bests.
ETSU doubled up the Racers in points in the paint (48-24) in the game and also got 42 bench points. MSU's bench did have its best night of the year however, scoring a season-high 24 points. The Racers committed 20 turnovers in the loss.
MSU returns to action Friday as the Racers make the trip to Alabama for a 6 p.m., contest against Alabama A&M. It will be MSU's final game before taking a 10-day break for Finals Week.
