Murray State opens the month of December Friday as it travels to face Alabama A&M in a 6 p.m., contest in Huntsville. It will be the Racers' final game before taking a 10-day break for Finals Week. The last time MSU traveled to AAMU, it was a 76-59 victory for the Racers in 2015. Jasmine Borders hit three consecutive 3-pointers late in the second half of that game to push MSU's lead to 17 points.
The Racers are coming off a 96-68 loss Wednesday at the CFSB Center to East Tennessee State. Abria Gulledge led MSU with a season-high 19 points in the loss as she hit five 3-pointers. Ke'Shunan James tallied her third double-double of the year as she had 18 points and 10 rebounds while Brianna Crane had a career-high 13 points and career-best 10 boards. It marks the second time this season that two Racers have recorded double-doubles in the same game.
The trio of Bria Bethea, Gulledge and James have accounted for nearly 75 percent of MSU's points this season. James is one of the top scorers in the country, averaging 22.4 points per game while Bethea and Gulledge are averaging 16.7 and 14.3 points per game, respectively.
Alabama A&M enters Friday's contest without a single player in double figures in scoring, but has 11 different players that are averaging over two points per game. Nigeria Jones leads the Lady Bulldogs averaging 9.5 points per game and 3.7 assists per and is the only player to have started in all six games this season for AAMU.
Kanisha Tharpe leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.8 per game in just 14 minutes of play. So far in 2017-18, nine different Lady Bulldogs have started at least one game. For the season, AAMU is shooting 37.1 percent from the floor and is averaging 56 points per game.
