The Racers are coming off a Tuesday night 69-55 loss on the road with the Saint Louis Billikens, where MSU's five-game win streak was snapped in what was one of their best defensive performances of the season, but was overwhelmed by their worst offensive performance.Â
The Racers held the Billikens to 35 percent shooting (22-of-62), but  only managed 35 percent themselves (19-of-55). The Racers started hot with an 18-8 lead, but lost the lead about three minutes into the second half and never got it bac

The Racers and their opponent from Poughkeepsie, New York, are meeting for the first time. Murray State has played the current members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to a 7-8 record. Their last meeting with a team from the MAAC was in 2008 when the Racers faced Niagara. MSU lost that game at Chattanooga but later scored a win at Rider in the ESPN BracketBusters game. MSU had one meeting with Monmouth in 1991 and a pair of games in the 1970's with Canisius and Fairfield.Â
After his first game of under 10 points scoring in the SLU game, Terrell Miller, Jr., still leads the Racers with 17.3 points per game, while Jonathan Stark upped his average fo 15.3 after an 18-point performance. Shaq Buchanan (12.4ppg) and Ja Morant (11.4) give the Racers four in double-figure scoring. Morant had his first double-double at MSU with 10 points and 12 rebounds against SLU. The freshman also had six assists.
After splitting the road trip with a win at Illinois State and the defeat at Saint Louis, the Racers are coming home to the friendly confines of The Bank where they have one of the top home-court advantages in the nation. In their 20th season in the CFSB Center, the Racers are 233-42 (.847) overall and 96-15 (.864) in non-conference games. In the last 10 seasons, MSU is 61-10 (.859) in non-conference games. The Racers are 3-1 at home this season with wins over Brescia, Southern Illinois and Florida A&M and a loss to Middle Tennessee.
After the Marist game, the Racers host Auburn Tuesday, before visiting Detroit Mercy (Dec. 22). Â Ohio Valley Conference play begins three days after Christmas when Eastern Illinois and SIUE visit MSU on Dec. 28 and 30. The Auburn game marks the first visit for a team from the Southeastern Conference in the 20 seasons of the CFSB Center and the first to visit MSU since 1993 when the Racers beat Ole Miss 87-68 in Racer Arena.
