Racers Jockey For Position At OVC Indoors

To someday stand on the medal platform as OVC Champion.

In day one of the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Charleston, Illinois, several Racer student-athletes took their best shot at Lantz Fieldhouse and some will do just that on Saturday.

In prelims, MSU's Tamdra Lawrence qualified second in the 60 meter hurdles, and Norma Abdur-Rafia was third in the 400 meter run. Additionally, Abdur-Rafia qualified second in the 200 meters. Saturday should be very interesting to see what these two great Murray State competitors can do in the finals.

MSU's Meagan Smith came home with a 10^th place finish in the 5000 meter final with a time of 17:45. Rebekah Priddy placed 14^th at 18:12 and Caroline Grogan was 17^th at 18:20.

MSU's Jabreuna Brimlett placed second in the Indoor Pentathlon, while teammate Aubrey Main placed fourth. Brimlett won the hurdles and the shot put and she was second in the long jump. Main won the 800 meter run.

Taylor McCammon placed 10^th in the long jump with a leap of 5.71 meters.

The MSU team of Tia Weston, Anna Curlin, Hilary McAdam and Ida Mutai placed ninth in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:09.

The second day of the OVC Indoor bash begins at 9 a.m. at host Eastern Illinois University.
