First Pitch
The Racers begin their four-game Illinois road trip Wednesday as they travel to face Southern Illinois. MSU is coming off a 2-1 weekend at Reagan Field against Austin Peay to earn its first series victory of the season. The Racers rallied from a nine-run deficit two weeks ago to defeat SIU in the two's first matchup of the season.
Inside the Matchup
MSU is 6-26 all-time at SIU but has won 4-of-5 as of late in the series, including back on March 8. The Racers scored 10 straight runs to win that contest as Brandon Gutzler and Adam Bauer recorded four and three RBIs, respectively in the win. MSU lost 5-4 in the last meeting in Carbondale in late March of 2016.
Shutting the Door
Chad Gendron's four saves so far this season are already the most in a single season for the Racers since Will Handlin recorded four in 2012. The four saves are tied for the fifth most in a single season in program history.
