5/11/2017 10:08:00 PM | Women's Track and Field
The Murray State women's track & field completed day one of the OVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship with some big performances in the Heptathlon at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama.
MSU's Jabreuna Brimlett and Taylor McCammon made a great showing in the first day of the Heptathlon as they held down the top spot and third place. They finished first and third in the 100 meter hurdles with times of 13.64 and 14.27. After McCammon placed sixth and Brimlett seventh in the high jump, they came back in the shot put where Brimlett placed second and McCammon third. The final event of the first day was the 200 meter run where Brimlett ran a time of 24.49 for second place and McCammon posted a time of 26.33 for a spot in fifth place.
So the Racer sophomore Brimlett is the overnight leader in the multi-event Heptathlon with the long jump, javelin and 800 meter run to come on Friday. She has 3,128 points through four of the seven events, ahead of SIUE's Lauren White (3,080), Cyra Beard of Tennessee State (3,025) and teammate McCammon at 2,955.
