Brimlett Advances To NCAA East 100 Meter Hurdles Final

Murray State women's track & field student-athletes Jabreuna Brimlett and Tamdra Lawrence are competing this week at the NCAA D-I Outdoor East Regional at the University of Kentucky Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Ky.
Brimlett punched her ticket to the finals of the 100 meter hurdles Friday with a Murray State record run of 13.42. Her time became the new Racer mark as she bested the 2013 mark of 13.53 by Sharda Bettis.
Lawrence came up short in the 200 meter dash when she paced 41st with a time of 23.82 and was well out of the top-24 that advanced to the finals. She ran in the 100 meters Thursday afternoon and was not among the top-24 in the 100 meter dash to advance to the finals. She posted a time of 11.78 and placed 34th among the field of 46 runners. She was just off the 11.51 she ran this month at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship. Still, the sophomore from Macon, Ga., had a great outdoor season for the Racers.
There have been nine NCAA qualifiers from the Murray State program in the Coach Jenny Swieton era including Brimlett and Lawrence this spring.
