This Weekend
Murray State closes its non-conference portion of the schedule this weekend as it head to Alabama for the Crimson-White Tournament in Tuscaloosa. The Racers are facing Troy for the first time since 2001 to begin the tournament before closing day one against the host Crimson Tide. MSU will close the tourney against Southern in the two program's first meeting since 2014.
Last Weekend
Last week, the Racers saw their six-match winning streak snapped at the Bradley CEFCU Classic. MSU lost both matches at the tournament, losing to Bradley and Illinois-Chicago. Alex Kaufmann led the Racers with 24 digs over the weekend while Rachel Holthaus had 15 kills in the two matches.
Scouting Troy
The Trojans are led by Lauren Long's 98 kills (2.51 per set) this season while Belle Waldrop and Savannah Moore are second and third, respectively with 94 and 89 kills, with Moore hitting .354. Logan Page leads the team with a .371 hitting percentage. Troy uses a pair of setters in its offense and is led by Kiara Barrett's 190 assists, however, Reina Terry (162 assists) leads the team with 5.40 assists per set. As a team, the Trojans are hitting .153 as a team, has 66 service aces and 54 total blocks in 2017.
Scouting Alabama
The Crimson Tide enters the weekend with a perfect home record (3-0) and a five-match winning streak. Alabama is led on offense by Christine Jarman's 99 kills on the season while Leah Lawrence has 98 and is hitting a team-best .386. At setter, Meghan Neelon leads the Tide with 364 assists and has led the team to a .185 attack percentage overall. In the back row, libero Quincey Gary is averaging 4.78 digs per set. The Crimson Tide has 93 total blocks on the year and 53 aces.
Scouting Southern
Southern is led by Paige Hall's 30 kills so far this season, while Arabella Hall is second on the team with 26 and has a team-best 12 total blocks. Vaterra Calais leads the Jaguars with 61 kills in 2017 and Bailey Jefferson leads the way defensively in the back row with 54 digs.
