The Murray State Racers continue their first road trip of Ohio Valley Conference regular season play on Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. tip against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at the Eblen Center in Cookeville.
Froggy 103 (WFGS 103.7 FM) airs every MSU game with "Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley calling the action in his 26th season. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides commentary. Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com has free online streaming audio. Streaming video is available at OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
The Racers are meeting Tech for the first time since the two teams play an amazing double-overtime thriller last March at the OVC Tournament in the opening round. MSU's Jonathan Stark had a career-high 41 points in the 85-84 win for the Racers. The Racers lost their only regular season meeting with TTU last season 71-67. MSU's last win at Tech's home court was in 2015 with a, 83-67 victory. The meeting Saturday is the 176th meeting between these two who are each one of the founding members of the OVC when it was launched in 1948.
Murray State's Jonathan Stark, the OVC Preseason Player of the Year, entered the week on a big run of games as the league's Player of the Week. He kept that going Saturday at JSU with 29 points. At JSU he scored his 27th career 20-point scoring game at MSU.  However, trailing by 17 points coming out of halftime, the Racers could not  overcome a night with too many mistakes and a sticky JSU defense. They did manage to get to within three points before taking their first loss this season in OVC play 76-71.
As the Racers head to TTU Saturday, there is a five-way tie for first place in the OVC. After Tech's 86-74 win over Austin Peay, the Racers have a share of first place at 4-1 with TTU, APSU, JSU and Belmont all at 4-1.
After Saturday's game, the Racers stay on the road next Thursday for a game at Belmont that will be aired by ESPNU.
