Game four of the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference regular season is Saturday when the Murray State Racers welcome the UT Martin Skyhawks to the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. The game is the second of a women's/men's doubleheader with the women's game at 5 p.m. and the men's game following.
Froggy 103 (WFGS 103.7 FM) airs every MSU game with "Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley calling the action in his 26th season. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides commentary. Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com has free online streaming audio. Streaming video is available at OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
The Racers have won four-straight after Thursday's 89-73 win over Southeast Missouri. Jonathan Stark's jaw-dropping performance ended with him scoring 36 points for his season-high and the top scoring game of the season for the team and also the fourth-best scoring game in 20 seasons in The Bank. His 39 consecutive free throws is a new Murray State record as Stark tied the MSU single-game mark of 14-of-14.Â
The Racers are rebounding and defending at a high level and when it gets paired with their scoring ability from multiple players, it makes MSU a tough game in the OVC. The Racers have 11 wins this season and have won the rebound stat in each of them. MSU enters the UTM game 26th in NCAA D-I in fewest turnovers and they're 28th in the nation in defensive field goal percentage as they hold opponents to an average of 39 percent from the field. MSU is also getting to the line more than anybody in the OVC with a league-best 241 made free throws.
Jonathan Stark could possibly join the MSU 1000-Point Club in the UTM game. In 47 games as a Racer, Stark has 986 points and is poised to become the 43rd member of the exclusive club. Terrell Miller, Jr., has also played 47 games at MSU and sits at 746.
The game with the Skyhawks ends a four-game home stand to start OVC play for MSU and next week, they'll begin four in a row on the road with games at Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.
