The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team returns home Thursday after just one day of rest to host Bethel (TN). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Racers dropped a non-conference affair to Illinois Tuesday, 84-52, in Champaign. The Racers just could not find their offensive stroke in the game, shooting 30-percent or below in each of the first three quarters. In the third quarter, the Racers did outscore the Illini, 18-16, but it was too little, too late, as they fell for third time in as many games on the road this season. Evelyn Adebayo was 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 6-for-6 from the free throw line to lead the Racers with 23 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Macey Turley followed with 13 points to go along with four assists.
The Bethel (TN) Series
The Racers are 7-2 all-time against the Lady Wildcats and have won each of the last seven meetings, including the lone clash in McKenzie. The two wins by Bethel came in the first two meeting of the series back in 1929 and 1930.
Scouting The Lady Wildcats
The 16th-ranked Lady Wildcats enter Thursday at 10-2 on the season with two wins over two NAIA-D1 Top 25 teams, while both losses were to team currently ranked ahead of them in the poll. The Wildcats currently average 76.4 points per game, while allowing 58.5. Myah Taylor currently leads Bethel with 21.9 points per game, while Morgan Martin follows at 10.8. Martin also leads the team in rebounds per game at 8.0, while Taylor follows at 6.5
A Win Thursday Would...
Snap a three-game skid by the Racers which includes losses at Arkansas State and Illinois and at home against Alabama A&M.
Four & Counting
Evelyn Adebayo notched her fourth double-double of the season at Illinois with a career-high 23 points and 13 rebounds, which tied her previous career best.
Best Behavior
The Racers continue to be one of the most disciplined teams in the nation as they have committed the sixth fewest fouls in the country. The Racers currently have 101 fouls on the season, while leader Montana has 94.
OK, What's Next?
The Racers close out a two-game mini home stand next Tuesday, Dec. 17 when they host region rival Southern Illinois at 5 p.m. The game will mark the Racers final appearance at the CFSB Center in 2018.
