Ja Morant Named OVC Player Of The Week

Murray State's Ja Morant was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for men's basketball in the week of Nov. 26-Dec. 2 in voting of the league's sports information directors.
A sophomore from Dalzell, S.C., Morant earned the award in back-to-back weeks.
Morant began the week with a career-high 38 points against Alabama (Nov. 26) and nine rebounds and five assists. He was 16-of-29 from the field, both career bests. His game of 16 made field goals is the second highest game of the season in NCAA D-I behind only Gonzaga's Josh McSwiggan who had a game of 17 made shots. Morant scored 25 points with 11 rebounds and six assists against Prairie View on Saturday. For the week, he averaged 31.5 points per game on 22-of-41 shooting (.537) and 18-of-22 (.818) from the free throw line.
Morant starts the week currently ranks third nationally in scoring (27.2 points/game) and fourth in assists (8.4/game) while ranking sixth in the OVC in rebounding (8.2/game).
With final exams coming this week, Morant and the Racers will next be on the court Saturday at Middle Tennessee at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The tip time is at 7 p.m.
