OVC Tabs Stark & Morant For Weekly Awards

Just as they did on Dec. 26, Murray State's Jonathan Stark and Ja Morant have been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player and Freshman of the Week. The league office made the announcement after a vote of the OVC's sports information directors.

With the Racers claiming two road wins last week to clinch their 25^th OVC regular season championship and No. 1 seed to this week's OVC Tournament at the Ford Center in Evansville, Stark and Morant had a big part in MSU's success.

Jonathan Stark came through when the Racers needed it most in the title-clinching 73-64 win at APSU with 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting. He also dished out five assists. For the week, Stark averaged 23 points per game and 4.5 assists.

Ja Morant helped the Racers along with a pair of performances that show how great of an all-around player he is. At EIU, he flirted with a triple-double with 15 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. At APSU, he had 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists. For the week Morant averaged 14.5 points per game, nine rebounds and six assists.
