The Murray State women look to string together a late-season run and build off a 91-65 victory over Austin Peay Thursday as the Racers travel to face SIU Edwardsville at 6 p.m., Saturday. MSU is currently a game ahead of Eastern Kentucky for eighth in the OVC Standings and currently sit a game behind Austin Peay and Southeast Missouri. The top eight in the league standings qualify for the OVC Tournament later this month in Evansville, Ind.
Ke'Shunan James is coming off a historic performance Thursday in the win over APSU as she scored a career-high 41 points, the fourth-most in a game in program history and she was also just an assist shy of recording just the third triple-double in program history. James shot 15-of-20 from the field and went 11-for-13 at the free-throw line in the win. James recorded 10 rebounds on the day and tied a career-high with the nine assists.
Although the Racers are just 3-5 all-time on the road against the Cougars, MSU has won each of its last two contests at the Vadalabene Center, winning in both 2016 and 2017 at SIUE.
SIU Edwardsville sits in second place in the league standings with its only two losses coming to OVC-leading Belmont this season. Donshel Beck's 14.2 points per game lead the Cougars and Lauren White's 13.9 per are second on the team. Sydney Bauman leads the squad in rebounding at 6.8 boards per game while Beck is second at 6.3 rebounds. Bauman, Beck and White are the only three Cougars to have started in all 24 games this season.
As a team, SIUE is averaging 63.9 points per game on the season and 67.3 per during league play while allowing just 61.1 during OVC games.
