First Pitch
MSU looks to snap its current skid this weekend as the Racers travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for a three-game set with Southeast Missouri. The Racers are coming off an 11-9 loss Wednesday night at Southern Illinois while the Redhawks downed Saint Louis, 10-8 Tuesday. MSU is looking for its first road OVC victories of the season.
Inside the Series
The Racers won 3-of-4 meetings last season with SEMO, including eliminating the Redhawks in the OVC Tournament in 2017. MSU is 23-32 all-time in Cape Girardeau and went 1-2 in 2016 the last time it made the trip to Missouri. The Redhawks are 13-7 at Capaha Field this season and have won four straight and 8-of-9 recently at home.
Closing In
Davis Sims recorded his 20th double of the season Wednesday night at Southern Illinois and is now just three shy of setting the program record for single-season doubles (22), held by Tyler Lawrence who accomplished the feat in 2016. Sims is currently second in the nation in two-baggers and is just two behind the national leader.
