Racers Begin Five Game Road Trip Friday At UTC

The Murray State soccer team begins its five-game road trip in a contest against the Chattanooga Mocs Friday at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee at 7 p.m.Â
After starting the season with a 4-1 record, the Racers are looking to build momentum for their extended road series by gaining their first away win of the year at Chattanooga. Murray State boasts a 2-0-0 record all-time over the Mocs with their last win coming in a 2-0 shutout win over UTC atCutchin Field last August.Â
Junior Miyah Watford continues to lead Murray State's offense with five goals and one assist for 11 total points on the year. Additionally, Rebecca Kubin contributed with a game-winning goal in MSU's last-second 3-2 win over FAU. Allyson McAtamney was also able to record a goal, making it not only her first of the season but also the first of her MSU career.Â

Following Friday's match against UTC, the Racers will face off against Southeast Missouri in their first Ohio Valley Conference matchup of the season. MSU quickly plays Georgia (Sept. 16) before heading to Illinois to complete their five-game road stretch in OVC action against Eastern Illinois (Sept. 21) and SIUE (Sept. 23). Murray State will finally return home to take on Tennessee Tech (Sept. 28) and Jacksonville State (Sept. 30) at Cutchin Field to round out September.

When the Racers last faced off against the Mocs, MSU secured a 2-0 shutout victory on August 26, 2016, at Cutchin Field.
Despite the two matches played by MSU and UTC, this will be the first time the two squads will meet on the Mocs home field in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Â
Chattanooga is 3-3 on the season, dropping its last contest at Lipscomb 0-3 on September.Â
