Racers Unable to Slow Down SIUE as Road Trip Wraps Up

Trying to get back in the win column after a tough loss, Thursday, the Murray State women's basketball team came up short, Saturday afternoon, falling 71-53 at SIU Edwardsville.
The Racers started the game with two threes by Macey Turley and Lex Mayes to build an early 7-2 lead, but the Panthers responded with a 12-0 run to end the quarter to take a lead they would not give up.
Murray State's defense was strong in the first half as they held SIUE to just 28% shooting from the floor and were down just 25-19 at the break, but a 26-14 Cougar advantage in the third quarter put the game out of reach for the Racers.
A layup by Michaela Manley with 2:35 left in the game got the Racers within 12, but that was as close as MSU would get as the Cougars held onto victory.
Evelyn Adebayo recorded a double-double for the sixth-straight game and the 11th time this season with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Turley was the only other Racer in double figures with 16 points as she went 3-5 from behind the arc. She also dished out a team-high four assists.
With the four-game road swing behind them, Murray State returns to the CFSB Center, Thursday at 5 p.m. when they take on Belmont.
