This Weekend
The Murray State women's basketball team returns home after a four-game road trip to battle Belmont, Thursday and Tennessee State, Saturday.
Last Time Out
The Racers found itself down by 12 points at halftime, but doubled up Eastern Illinois in the third quarter to head into the final stanza of Thursday's game at Lantz Arena in Charleston tied. However, the rally would run out of steam in the fourth, as EIU held on for the 75-67 win. Despite outrebounding the Panthers, 41-28, the Racers again struggled in the turnover department by committing 23, compared to 13 by EIU. Evelyn Adebayo picked up her ninth double-double of the season in the game with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Macey Turley was 7-for-14 from the floor, 4-for-7 from beyond-the-arc and 2-for-2 at the line to lead the Racers with 20 points.
On Saturday, the Racers came up short, falling 71-53 at SIU Edwardsville. MSU started the game with two threes by Macey Turley and Lex Mayes to build an early 7-2 lead, but the Panthers responded with a 12-0 run to end the quarter to take a lead they would not give up. Evelyn Adebayo recorded a double-double for the sixth-straight game and the 11th time this season with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Turley was the only other Racer in double figures with 16 points as she went 3-5 from behind the arc. She also dished out a team-high four assists.
The Belmont Series
The Racers enter Thursday's meeting with Belmont looking for their first win against Bruins since Belmont entered the OVC in 2012. Overall, Murray State is 2-12 against Belmont with their last victory coming in 2000.
Scouting the Bruins
The three-time defending OVC champions are riding a four-game winning streak after losing their first conference game since the 2015-16 season to Tennessee Tech on January 5. Last week, defeated Jacksonville State and Tennessee State. Junior Maddie Wright scored a career-high with 17 points against Tennessee State, shooting 6-of-8 from the field with six rebounds in just 20 minutes. Wright also had 15 points in the win over JSU. Freshman Conley Chin scored 13 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor last week. She played a season-high 24 minutes in the win over TSU, scoring six points and bringing down seven rebounds. Senior Darby Maggard, the preseason OVC Player of the Year, scored 18 points and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. Â She is now 22-for-22 from the stripe and had made her last 42 free throw attempts dating back to last season

The Racers and Tigers have played each other 58 times since beginning the series in 1985, with MSU coming out on top 34 times against 24 losses. In Murray, the Racers hold a 19-10 lead including an 80-72 two seasons ago.
Scouting The Tigers
Tennessee State fell at Tennessee Tech and Belmont last week. Freshman Terrysha Banner extended her streak of double-digits scoring games to four last week. She recorded 12 points at Tennessee Tech before leading the Lady Tigers with 14 points versus Belmont. Asia Sims also added 15 points against Tennessee Tech.
