Racers Wrap Up Gladstein Invitational at IU

The Murray State Track and Field team was back in action, Saturday, for day two of the Gladstein Invitational at Indiana University.
"Today was a great extension of day one. All the athletes took advantage of the competition today and came away with solid times," said head coach Adam Kiesler. "The whole weekend both at Indiana and Eastern Illinois has set us up for the next five weeks going into the OVC championship."
A few races were split into two sections which saw some of the faster runners competing in a smaller field. In the 200m fast section, Tamdra Lawrence finished second with a time of 24.85 while Norma Abdur-Rafia was fourth at 25.14.
In the larger section of the 200m, Daijah White placed fourth (25.83) and Rachel Hagans finished 10th (26.24).
Hilary McAdam was the lone Racer in the 600m, running in the fast section, where she finished sixth with a time of 1:34.29.
Aubrey Main competed in the high jump and came in second with a jump of 1.67m, while Jabreuna Brimlett was in the long jump and finished seventh with a mark of 5.53m.
In the shot put, Destiny Carey placed ninth with a distance of 12.89m and Christina Meinhardt finished 11th at 12.69m.
The 4x400 relay team of D'Myia Thornton, Abdur-Rafia, McAdam, and Hagans finished fourth with a time of 3:50.71.
"I am proud of everyone at both places and look forward to a weekend off and a few good weeks of training," said Kiesler.
After the weekend off, the Racers will be back in action, February 1-2, at the Don DeNoon Invitational at Southern Illinois and the Meyo Invite at Notre Dame.
