Racers Set to Host Murray State Open
10/16/2019 11:56:00 AM | Women's Cross Country
The Murray State men's and women's cross country teams are set to host the 2019 Murray State Open Friday evening at Miller Memorial Golf Course. It is the first time the Racers have ever had a home meet during the season with the last time MSU hosting a cross country meet being the 2015 OVC Championship.
"We are really excited to host our first-ever home cross country meet at Miller Memorial," said Coach Jordan Wallace. "It fits perfectly with homecoming and we will have some Alumni in attendance. Our athletes have been training hard on hills all season in preparation for our conference meet in Edwardsville and so it's perfect that we have the opportunity to host a meet on a hillier course and really test our physical and mental strength one last time before November 2nd. I hope we can continue to host this meet every year and grow the number of participating teams in the future."
Including the Racers, there will be five teams competing in the Race including Austin Peay, UT Martin, Tennessee Tech, and Bethel. The women will run a 5K at 4 p.m. while the men's 8K will take place at approximately 4:30 p.m.
It will be the last race of the regular season for the Racers as the next time they will be in action will be the OVC Championship on November 2nd in Edwardsville, Illinois.
