Racers Begin 95th Season - 22nd Season At The Bank
The Murray State Racers host the Southern Jaguars in the 2019-20 season opener Saturday (Nov. 9) at 7 p.m. at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. The season marks the 95th in the storied history of Murray State Basketball and in January, the Racers will play in the 72nd season of Ohio Valley Conference basketball.
The Racers have won 20-of-21 home openers at the CFSB Center with the only loss being a 77-74 thriller to the Houston Cougars in 2014. Against NCAA D-I teams, the Racers have won 6-of-7 home openers including last season's 73-54 win over Wright State. The recent trend is for the Racers to open the season at home, which this season marks the sixth-straight season they have done so. The last time MSU opened on the road was 2013 at Valparaiso. It was the first game in the brilliant two-year run of eventual NBA Draft selection Cameron Payne.
Debuts Only Come Once
The Racers have had some outstanding debuts of late when a freshman plays in his first game, or maybe a junior college transfer. Against NCAA D-I teams, here are some of the best recent debuts.
Racers vs Jaguars
Southern won their opener Wednesday night at home over Loyola of New Orleans 87-70. The Jaguars led 38-33 at the half and extended their lead in the second half outscoring the Wolfpack 49-37.Â
The Jags and Racers are meeting for the first time, but the Racers have had plenty of experience against other teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference including recent games with Alcorn, Alabama A&M, Pairie View and Jackson State.

Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides expert analysis and commentary. All MSU games can be heard over the air and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com.
10 Racers Score In Exhibition Win
The Racers had a 105-64 exhibition win over the Martin Methodist Redhawks Monday at the CFSB Center. KJ Williams led five Racers in double-figure scoring with 20 points to go with nine rebounds, while Tevin Brown and Demond Robinson each scored 16 points.Â
