Racers vs Missouri Valley
The Racers are playing their final game of four games this season against Missouri Valley Conference teams. To date, the Racers have a win over Southern Illinois and losses to Missouri State and Drake. The Racers had won six in a row coming into the season against MVC opponents.
DaQuan Smith Surges With Career Night
Freshman DaQuan Smith is eight games into his Racer career and already showing the kind of top-level talent he can be. In Monday's win over Kennesaw State, Smith hit the Owls with 19 points in the first half on his way to a career-high 21 as he matched the Racers' season-high with five 3-point baskets. From the point guard position, Smith is also taking care of the ball and making sure his teammates get into the action. In the last two games against Middle Tennessee and KSU, he has tallied 13 assists against only five turnovers.
In the MTSU game, Smith had a career-high nine assists. He is eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 3.6 assists per game.
Youth Rules For The Racers
The 2019-20 season continues to see the Racers develop a lot of young talent. In 10 games, underclassmen (DaQuan Smith, Tevin Brown, KJ Williams, Chico Carter and Demond Robinson) have combined for 30 starts and 58 percent of the Racers' scoring. The Racers' top-4 scoring games of the season have come from underclassmen: Williams (22pts vs Middle Tennessee & 23 vs Weber State), Smith (21 vs Kennesaw State) and Carter (20 vs Brescia).
