The Murray State Racers (22-4, 13-2) look to take a step closer to a possible Ohio Valley Conference regular season title when they host the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (9-19, 4-11) Saturday at the CFSB Center.
After Thursday's 85-75 win over UT Martin, the Racers have won 15 of their last 16 and their last six. It's a doubleheader day at The Bank with the women's game starting at 5 p.m. and the men's game scheduled for 7 p.m. starts.
MSU star sophomore Ja Morant shared the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball Player of the Week Award with Austin Peay's Terry Taylor. Morant was also recipient of the National Player of the Week Awards from The Naismith Award and the Lute Olson Award. Morant enters the game still trending toward becoming the first player to average 20 points and 10 assists in a single-season since the assist was made an official stat in 1985. Morant is first in the nation with 10.2 assists per game and eighth with 24.3 points per game.
In their first meeting (Jan. 12) The Racers never trailed after taking the lead only 10 seconds into the game. MSU began the second half with a 20-9 run to put the game away with a 19-point lead. Ja Morant 17 points and 14 assists for his 11th double-double of the season. The Racers ended the game with eight players scoring seven points or more.
