Racer Golf Begins Spring Season In Arizona

The Murray State men's golf team hits the links for the first time in 2019 Saturday when they play the first round of the Loyola Intercollegiate. The 54-hole event will be staged at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.

Coach Eddie Hunt announced earlier in the week a starting lineup of Austin Knight, Gabe Wheeler, Avery Edwards, Connor Coombs and Justin Wendling. Dalton Bagwell will play the event as an individual.

Knight had a pair of top-5 finishes in the fall, including one win and he leads the Ohio Valley Conference in stroke average at 70.2.

Play will begin Saturday with an 8:45 a.m. CT shotgun start as the field of 17 teams play 18 holes each day with the final round coming Monday.

The 17-team tournament field features Air Force, UAB, Army, Connecticut, DePaul, Elon, Gonzaga, Hartford, host Loyola of Maryland, Missouri State, Murray State, Seton Hall, SIUE, South Dakota, Towson, UT Martin and Xavier.
