Racers Rally Falls Short Against Morehead State

The Murray State baseball team dropped game two of its series with Morehead State, Saturday afternoon, 7-5, as the Eagles took the series.
Jordan Cozart and Ryan Perkins each homered for the Racers to lead the offense. Jaron Robinson also added two runs scored.
Jase Carvell made his first start of the season and threw 2.1 innings with a strikeout while allowing three runs. Hunter Orr pitched a scoreless inning of relief while Connor Holden added two scoreless innings late in the game.
Morehead State took an early 1-0 lead in the second, but Perkins tied the game in the next half inning with his ninth home run of the season, tying him for the team lead.
After the Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the third, Sean Darmafall got a run back in the fourth with an RBI single through the right side to make it a 3-2 game after four innings.
Morehead State had their big inning in the fifth as they scored four runs, three of them coming on a home run by Jon Burghardt.
The Racers got back into the game in the sixth as they scored three runs. Cozart hit his second two-run home run in as many days before Robinson doubled and Wes Schad singled to make it 7-5.
Murray State put two runners on in both the seventh and ninth inning but were unable to push across any more runs.
The two teams will wrap up their three-game series tomorrow. First pitch at Allen Field is scheduled for 12 p.m.
