A Look at the Racers:
The Racers have shown why they were picked preseason OVC #1 through their first two matches, as the Racer attack has looked relentless to open the new campaign. With six goals over their two contests, Murray State has already seen four different players on the score sheet – two of which are true freshmen in Chloe Barnthouse and Hailey Cole. Murray State has also outshot its opponents 33-15 through the two contests.
Rebecca Kubin and Barnthouse have both collected goals in each of the Racers' first two matches – a 3-1 victory over Morehead State and a 3-2 triumph over Eastern Kentucky. Sophomore defender Saraya Young also found the net in the win over Morehead State by way of a dazzling individual effort as the Wilmore, Kentucky native recorded her first collegiate goal.
The Racers also feature four different individuals that have tallied assists on the year.
Scouting UT Martin:
The Skyhawks earned shutout victories over Eastern Illinois and Belmont in their first week of competition. The Skyhawks outshot the Panthers by 14 in their 1-0 victory over Eastern Illinois in the season opener, followed by a 1-0 victory over defending OVC Tournament champions Belmont while not conceding a single shot on goal to the Bruins on the day. The game-winning goal against Eastern Illinois came from freshman Emely van der Vliet off an assist by Hendrikje Baurmann in the 31st minute, while Friday's goal against Belmont was recorded by Skylar Boes.
Senior goalkeeper Erica Myers was recognized as the OVC Goalkeeper of the Week for the pair of shutout efforts, posting a perfect 1.000 save percentage for the week.
