Coombs and Lewis turned in fifth and eighth place finishes among a field of 90 players at Gateway National Golf Links

Murray State's Connor Coombs came home with a fifth-place finish and a spot on the All-Tournament team and Trey Lewis placed eighth at the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by SIUE at Gateway National Golf Club in Madison, Illinois.

Coombs played an excellent 54 holes and placed fifth on rounds of 71-69-72=212, while Quinn Eaton placed 30^th on scores of 77-74-72=223. Other MSU finishes and scores included Walker Beck in 42^nd place on scores of 72-78-76=226 and Kamaren Cunningham in 49^th position after scores of 73-81-74=228. Carson Holmes had scores of 77-79-81=237 and finished in 75^th place.

MSU's Trey Lewis placed eighth and was the top player among a field of 20 solo players in the event with scores of 70-71-73=214, while Tyler Powell carded scores of 76-76-72=224 and placed 34^th overall and was fourth among the individual competitors.

The Racers had a score line of 293-300-294=887 to place eighth, six shots ahead of Green Bay (891) and five shots from seventh place South Dakota (882). UT Martin won the team title at 855, with Weber State (867), New Orleans (781), Austin Peay (875) and SIUE and Missouri State (880) rounding out the top-6.

UT Martin's Garrett Chumley won the medalist title at 205.

Gateway National Golf Links is played to a par-71 and a length of 7,016 yards.
