Racers Set to Face Mercer and Middle Tennessee at Mercer Invitational

Murray State softball head to Macon, Georgia for the Mercer Invitational for their third week of competition. The Racers will open with a doubleheader Friday at 1 p.m. CT against Middle Tennessee and at 5 p.m. CT against host Mercer. On Saturday, the Racers play back-to-back at 10 a.m. CT and 12 p.m. CT against Middle Tennessee and Mercer to wrap up the Mercer Invitational.

Last Time Out:
-Â The Racers went 4-1 at the 2022 Blazer Classic as the offense went off for 41 runs over the five games, with two mercy-rule wins over Toledo and UAB and pulled out a 12-inning marathon victory against UAB to close out the tournament.

- For the second straight week, the Racers were lead offensively by Logan Braundmeier, who hit .500 (9-for-18) with one home run, five doubles, nine RBI and seven runs scored. She had a slugging percentage of .944 and an on-base percentage of .571.

- Sierra Gilmore drove in eight RBIs over the weekend including the bases-clearing three-RBI double against UAB in the top of the 12th inning to lead the Racers to the 8-4 win. Gracie Osbron and Lindsey Carroll each added six hits, hitting .375 and .353, respectively, with each launching their first home runs of the season.

- In the circle, the Racer pitching staff surrendered just three earned runs over the five games, holding the opposition to a .226 average at the dish. Hannah James threw two complete games, including one shutout and limited opposing batters to a .161 average for a 0.88 ERA. In the 9-0, five-inning mercy-rule win over UAB, James threw a two-hitter to shutout the Blazers.

OVC Honors
- Starting her final season as a Racer with a ten-game hitting streak, Logan Braundmeier was honored for the first time in her career as the OVC Player of the Week. Braundmeier, in five games at the 2022 Blazer Classic, hit .500 (9-18) with one home run, five doubles, nine RBI and seven runs scored. She had a slugging percentage of .944 and an on-base percentage of .571.

Lighting Up the OVC
- Braundmeier is top-three in eight offensive categories in the OVC and leads the conference in slugging percentage (.906), doubles (7) and stolen bases (7).
- The Racers pitching staff boasts the lowest ERA (1.05) in the conference, only allowing nine earned runs through the first two weeks of the season.
- Kamryn Carcich is tied for the league-lead with two triples.
