Murray State Travels to Lexington on Tuesday for a Midweek Game with In-State Rival Wildcats
Murray State (8-3) baseball travels to Lexington, Ky. for a Tuesday game with Kentucky at Kentucky Proud Park with first pitch coming at 3 pm CST. The Racers look to bounce back to their winning ways after a tough weekend against SEC foe Alabama. MSU and Kentucky have squared off 27 times in the history of the two programs with the Racers taking the most recent matchup in 2021 13-8.
Â
After starting the season, a program-best 8-0 Murray State ran into some tough pitching over the weekend against the Crimson Tide, prior to the series the Racers ranked top five nationally in several categories while still ranking eighth in the nation in stolen bases. Jordan Holly, Jake Slunder, and Jacob Pennington highlight the Racer offense, with each batting above .340 with at least seven RBIs apiece. Pennington is tied for the team lead in home runs with two on the season to go along with 10.1 scoreless innings pitched.
Â
Murray State will give the ball to redshirt junior Alex Jarrell for the matchup. The southpaw has been used exclusively out of the bullpen to this point in the season after transferring to Murray State from Andrew College this season. Jarrell sports 5.1 innings on the year with a solid 3.38 ERA while striking out seven and giving just one free pass. Â
