Racers Drop Tight Contest With Memphis, Prep for North Alabama

Murray State Fell 5-4 to the Tigers in the Monday Night Tilt
Murray State (18-17) baseball fell at the hands of Memphis 5-4 on Monday night at FedEx Park in Memphis, Tennessee. The Racers led throughout the majority of the game before the Tigers surged late to take the tightly contested battle.Â
Seth Gardner led the Racers bats with two hits and an RBI in the contest. Gardner ranks second on the team with 24 RBIs on the year while also posting 25 hits on the season. Shortstop Drew Vogel doubled in the contest to grab an RBI and extend his on-base streak to eight games.Â
Alex Jarrell got the start on the hill for MSU and went 2.1 innings pitched while allowing just one run and striking out four. The Racers would hold the lead for most of the contest before Memphis snatched the win on a walk-off solo home run in the ninth inning.
