MSU outhit in DH, 15-11; strands 13 total runners
The Murray State softball team dropped both games of its Popeyes Battle of the Border doubleheader with Austin Peay, 2-1 and 4-3, in eight innings, Wednesday afternoon in Clarksville, Tennessee.
In A Nutshell
The Racers were first on the board in game one when Lindsey Carroll hit a solo home run in the second. However, from that point on Murray State was unable to score and left six runners stranded in the process. Austin Peay scored in the fourth, then again in the sixth to secure the victory in the opener.
In game two, Murray State gave up three runs on four hits in the first inning, as Austin Peay would hold the Racers scoreless for the first five innings. However, in the sixth MSU tied the game at three with an RBI single from Gracie Osbron and two-RBI single from Carroll. MSU then held the Govs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to force extra innings. Murray State left two stranded in their half of the inning, then allowed three straight singles by Austin Peay in the bottom of the eighth to break the tie, 4-3, and complete the DH sweep.
