Bruins Down the Racers in Series Finale

Murray State Falls 7-1 to Belmont on Sunday Afternoon
Murray State (15-11) baseball fell at the hands of rival Belmont 7-1 on Sunday afternoon at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. The Bruins were able to take all three games of the series from Murray State throughout the weekend. The Racers move to 13-5 at Reagan Field on the year.Â
Jordyn Naranjo starred for MSU in the clash, tossing five scoreless, hitless innings in relief for the Racers. The redshirt sophomore has been a staple to the Murray State bullpen this season with 19.2 innings pitched and a miniscule 0.92 ERA in nine appearances this year. A Clinton, Ky. native, Naranjo has allowed just six hits throughout the season while striking out 11.Â
Murray State was again led offensively by Jake Slunder with two hits in the game and Bryson Bloomer who provided a double in the matchup. Shortstop Drew Vogel provided the lone RBI for the Racers when he drove in Bloomer in the fourth inning. Slunder is now batting .330 on the season and is batting .370 in OVC play while Bloomer has collected 25 total bases with five home runs in just six conference games for Murray State.Â
The Racers now set their sights on future Missouri Valley Conference opponent Southern Illinois for a home midweek matchup on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 5 pm.
