Racers Head to Southern Illinois for Tuesday Clash

Murray State and SIU Square-off for the Second Time This Season
Coming off of their third straight conference series win, Murray State (24-19) baseball travels to Southern Illinois on Tuesday for a 6 pm matchup at Itchy Jones Stadium in Carbondale, Illinois. The Salukis took the first clash 8-5 in 11 innings at Johnny Reagan Field on April 5.Â
The Racers are riding a hot streak winning six of their last seven games. Offensively, Jake Slunder continues to lead the team with a .335 batting average to go with a team-high 60 hits and 21 stolen bases. Bryson Bloomer has been one of the hottest bats in the Ohio Valley Conference recently and is up to a team-high 11 home runs and 51 RBIs.
Murray State relief pitcher Alec Whaley leads the team with 20 appearances on the mound. The all-time appearances leader, Whaley recently surpassed 100 career outings in his career.

Matthew Steidl anchors the SIU pitching staff with 20 appearances and a 3.56 ERA. Steidl has 48.0 innings pitched and leads the team with 59 strikeouts.
