Holcombe and Metzger Leads in Kills to Win Season Opener

Racers Opens the Season with a Win at Southern Indiana
Murray State volleyball (1-0) won the 2022 opener in a five-set nail-biter at Southern Indiana, Aug. 27.
The Screaming Eagles took the first lead as they won the first set 25 to 18, but an eye for an eye, the Racers evened it out in the second with identical points.
The third set went all the way to the 36th point as both team refused to back down in back to back set points leading to eleven deuce points, the Screaming Eagles edged the Racers.
Fully warmed up from the tight third set, the Racers close out the match by winning the fourth and fifth sets.
Jayla Holcombe and Darci Metzger led the Racers in kills, with 25 and 20 each.
Bailey DeMier, prove to be the Racers primary offensive conductor as she record 51 assists while recording six points herself.
On the flip side, Dahlia Miller showed promise to be the backbone of defensive line, recording 34 digs.
The Racers will face The Screaming Eagles again to wrap up the week, Aug. 27.
