Racers Fall To Drake In Final Homestand

Sydney Etter scored her second goal of the season for Murray State.
The Murray State women's soccer team dropped its last home game of the 2023 regular season to Drake, 2-1, at Cutchin Field on Thursday.
Drake took the lead in the first half on a penalty kick from Emma Nagel in the 29th minute. After 16 minutes of playing in the second half, Sydney Etter would even the match with her second goal of the season and sixth of her career on Mary Hardy's third assist of the year.
The Bulldogs would retake the lead less than two minutes later on a goal from Kendall Starcevich in the 64th minute.
The Racers were even in shots with Drake with 10 apiece, with Murray State outshooting the Bulldogs 8-6 in the final 45 minutes of the match. Audrey Henry led the field with three shots, and Etter and Tori Schrimpf had two shots each.
"Regardless of the result, I still think we're a team in form and we're a team that's hungry to prove ourselves," head coach Matt Lodge said.
The Racers will close out the regular season on the road at Indiana State on Sunday, October 22 at 1 p.m. in Terre Haute, Indiana.
