The Murray State men’s team got 45 bench points in home win
The Murray State Racers ran past the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles 78-72 Friday at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
Â
The Racers (2-0) will play their third-consecutive game at home at the start of the 2023-24 season on Tuesday against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
Â
MSU put five players in double-figure scoring led by Rob Perry with 16 points, while Brian Moore, Jr. added 15 points. MSU got 12 each from JaCobi Wood and Nick Ellington, who also had 10 rebounds. Tech was called for a foul on their inbounds pass and gave the ball back to the Racers, who got a rebound and put-back from Ellington at 15:15. The Racers went into the halftime intermission in front 36-26.
Â
MSU began the second half with an 20-7 run that was capped by Ellington's fifth basket of the game and a 3-pointer and layup from Shawn Walker, Jr. for a 56-35 lead with 14:10 left. MSU's 12-point lead with 1:22 remaining was whittled to the final score.
