Game Day Story Lines

The Racers open their 99th season of collegiate basketball, their 26th in the CFSB Center and their second in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Racers are 85-13 all-time in season openers and 24-1 in CFSB Center openers with the only loss coming to the Houston Cougars in 2014.
Coach Steve Prohm begins his 6th season in his tour with the Racers and the 2023-24 season marks his 13th as a head coach.
Prohm is 7-4 as a head coach in season openers and is 4-1 in openers at the CFSB Center.
A year ago, the Racers were predicted for an eighth-place finish, but did better with a spot in seventh place after an 11-9 league record.
A year later, the Racers are the No. 7 selection in a vote of the MVC coaches and Sports Communications staff and media members.
Drake has was chosen No. 1 in the preseason, with UNI, Bradley, Indiana State and Belmont in the top-5. Missouri State is No. 6, followed by the Racers, Illinois State, Southern Illinois and UIC in the top-10. Evansville and Valparaiso round out the poll.
Murray State senior Rob Perry is part of the All-MVC Preseason Team with a spot on the second team. In his first season with the Racers, the senior from Orlando, Fla., was ninth in MVC scoring at 14.3 points per game.
It will be a busy and intriguing first two months of the season for the Racers.
The Racers 99th season sees the team host six games in the CFSB Center before the end of the year.
And early tilt with old rival WKU (Nov. 14)is followed by two games at the Fort Myers Tipoff against UNCW and Appalachian State Intriguing road games await at Austin Peay (Dec. 9), Mississippi State (Dec. 13) and at home in the first meeting vs SMU (Dec. 22).
