12/16/2023 9:43:00 PM | Men's Basketball
A poor shooting day leads to a home loss at The Bank for the Murray State Racers.
The Murray State Racers dropped a 61-55 home loss to the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky, on a day when the shots didn't fall.
Â
The Racers managed only 32 percent from the field (15-of-47), including hitting only 21 percent of the time (6-of-29) from the 3-point line.
Â
Quincy Anderson led the Racers with 15 points, while Rob Perry added 12 and Justin Morgan threw in 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds off the bench.
Â
In a low-scoring first half, Morgan gave the Racers a boost in the final minute with a rebound and score, a pair of free throws and a 3-point basket at the buzzer to give MSU a 29-24 advantage at the intermission.
Â
It was Anderson's 3-pointer to start the second half that gave the Racers their biggest lead of the day at eight when it was 34-26 with 18:23 left. The Racers led twice more by eight points, the last at the 11:16 mark on another Anderson three and a pair of free throws. The resilient Lions took the lead for good with 3:53 left at 53-50. MSU's last field goal came at 7:38 as they ended the game hitting just 1-of-13 from the field.
