Murray State baseball is set for its home opener against former conference rival UT Martin on Tuesday at 3 p.m at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. The Racers were able to complete the sweep over the Skyhawks a season ago across a three-game series.
Scouting Report
The Skyhawks split their opening series with Belmont, going 2-2 to begin the season. Junior utility man Andrew Fernandez is coming off of a big weekend where he earned a .545 batting average with two doubles and a home run to go with three RBIs. UT Martin flashed several arms throughout opening weekend with 11 different pitchers making an appearance.
Opening Week Notes
The Murray State offense was able to flex their muscles throughout opening weekend with 11 extra-base hits over the course of the weekend. Four different Racers were able to hit a home run during their series with North Florida. Dustin Mercer pieced together three doubles on the weekend while Taylor Howell led the Racers with two doubles and a home run, good for a .714 slugging percentage.
