MSU shuts out Ball State, Loyola Chicago Saturday

In A Nutshell
The Murray State softball team picked up a pair of shutout wins as it swept day two of the Inaugural Velvet Milkman Invitation Saturday at Racer Field in Murray, Kentucky. The Racers clipped Ball State, 1-0, in their first game of the day, while a Taylor Jackson home run delivered a 2-0 win in the nightcap over Loyola Chicago.

Fast Facts

One run would be all the Racers would need for the game one win, as Bre Haislip and Hannah James combined to shutout Ball State.
Lindsey Carroll drove in Murray State's lone run of the game, a bases-loaded, RBI-fielder's choice that scored Gracie Osbron from third.
Haislip picked up the win by allowing no runs on five hits with four strikeouts over 4.1 innings, while James got the save by allowing no runs and no hits with six strikeouts over the final 2.2 frames.
In game two, one swing of the bat was all it took again as Taylor Jackson blasted a two-run shot over the wall in the bottom of the sixth to give the Racers the win.
Jenna Veber went the distance for the Racers against the Ramblers allowing no runs on five hits with two strikeouts over a full seven innings of work.
