The Racers travel to Long Beach, Calif., for The Beach Invitational
The Murray State women's golf team participates in the Beach Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Mission Viejo CC in California, hosted by Long Beach State.
Not only are the Racers playing in California for the first time in program history, they're in one of the top-ranked fields they'll see in 2022-23.
The Beach Invitational has a field of 14 teams that has an average GolfStat ranking of 108. Outside playing in an NCAA Regional, this is as tough as it gets. UCLA is the highest ranked team this week at No. 21 and five teams are in the top-100 including Colorado State, Gonzaga, LBSU and Sam Houston State. The Racers moved up to 183 this week after their strong showing in Florida.
The Racers are coming off a sixth-place showing at the Atlantic Invitational where they set a program record for single round score (283) and tied a program record for total score (864). Eliza Mae Kho, the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, placed third and set her career-low score twice with a 68. Kho is MSU's first Valley golf weekly honoree. Payton Carter placed eighth with her own low round as she tied her career-best with a 69.
The schedule of play calls for 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
